Important Updates
Bailey Water and Sanitation District is implementing emergency water conservation measures due to the drought. Effective immediately, all customers should minimize water usage, and only indoor water use is allowed. In addition, the bulk water station is closed, and all outdoor water use is prohibited. The District has very senior water rights dating back to 1863, however, the current call on the North Fork of the Platte River dates back to 1861, so we are out of priority. The District has an augmentation plan to address this situation with water stored in Maddox Reservoir (near the Platte Canyon High School), but at normal water usage that will only last about 2 months (yes, we really could run out of water!). With water conservation, we can stretch that to perhaps 3-4 months. While there is rain in the forecast next week, that will only provide a temporary relief, and we expect the water conservation measures to be necessary through the remainder of 2026. Thank you in advance for your part in making sure we continue to have water for everyone’s basic needs.
Water rates and fees have been updated per the last board meeting. This will take effect on the July invoice.
